Plant Collection
Due May 10, 2012
Obtain 30 different plants. Including:
2 Ferns
6 Gymnosperms: at least 3 of them pines
14 Angiosperm: 5 of them oaks, 2 of them fruits, and no more than 2
*ornamental angiosperms (The other 5-7 can be your choice of angiosperms)
8 Non-Ornamental plants of your choice (fern, gymnosperms, or angiosperms)
Once you have gathered your 30 plants you must press them to get all the water and oils out of the leaves. To do this, place a leaf on a piece of newspaper and stack it between several books. Once you have pressed the leaves glue, do not tape, them to a piece of plain paper, not lined paper.
On the paper include all of the following about the plant:
Scientific Name (genus and species, Written correctly)
Common Name
Where you obtained the plant (County, City, or Street)
Family Name (ending in -aceae, not common Family names)
Put each of the plants in a clear sheet protector, in a 3-ring binder. Place the fern, gymnosperm and angiosperm divisions together, in alphabetical order by scientific name.
What must be turned into me is:
A 3-ring binder with 30 plants (Be sure the have all the required plants) that have been pressed and glued to a plain piece of white paper that has all of the above information on it. Each plant must be in a sheet protector divided into divisions in alphabetical order by scientific name
